Sunday Morning Well Being Event in the Park

I am delighted to have been asked by the Friends of Rhyddings Park to help facilitate six well being events in 2019 at The Coach House in Rhydding Park Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire. The FoRP recognise the need to promote well being, as so many people struggle to manage anxiety, stress and worry. The FoRP realise the often people can't, won't or don't know how to ask for help.

These free events are open to members of the local community and have been designed to help people who struggle with anxiety and stress. The purpose is to help them to learn more about anxiety and stress, find out about useful coping techniques and discover new ways to relax.

The Coach House in Rhyddings has been recently renovated, to include classrooms, a cafe and a kitchen garden and is an excellent community venue with the specific purpose of increasing the well being of the local community. The building and gardens are accessible to all and four legged friends are very welcome in the cafe.

Today's well being event saw ten delegates from the local community spend the day focusing on their well being. In the morning I ran an interactive group session on stress and anxiety. We looked at how it can impact our lives and bodies. I showed the group a simple breathing technique. We learnt about fight, flight and freeze, and enjoyed open and honest discussions about our personal experiences with stress and anxiety. We finished the morning sessions by doing tension and relaxation exercise.

After a delicious healthy lunch cooked by the organiser Ann and FoRP team the group then enjoyed a mindfulness mediation session with Bernie.

To finish the day Bernie then taught them some QiGong ( which is an ancient Chinese exercise and healing technique that involves meditation, controlled breathing and movement exercises).
